The Insurance Gaps That Grow With Your Business

Having insurance does not necessarily mean a business has adequate protection for its current exposures. Gallagher's 2026 Business Owners Survey found that 94% of business owners worry their insurance may not cover a specific event or loss they could face. Also, business exposures can change as a company adds equipment, employees, services, locations, technology, or new types of work, even when the underlying policies renew on autopilot.

S.M.A.R.T. Management gives owners a way to make that review more specific. Identify the two or three exposures that could materially disrupt the business. Look at the actual coverage limits. Estimate what those exposures would realistically cost today. Then compare the potential financial impact with the protection currently available and bring the specific gaps to the broker for review.

Insurance is a financial tool. Risk management is a management discipline.

This Week's Pick: The I in Team

Saying “I’ve got this” can feel like leadership. Sometimes it is. But when it becomes the default response, it can signal that admitting you do not have all the answers is something to hide. A team that never sees their leader ask for help may start hiding their own limitations.

The Power of Servant Leadership in Daily Influence

Servant leadership starts with a shift in focus. Instead of asking how a leader can direct a team, ask how a leader can help the people on that team succeed. For owners and leaders, the takeaway is that supporting your people is not separate from performance, and it can be part of how stronger performance is built.
